This is a weird time.
It’s weird for a daughter who has an infant
And tries not to focus on fears of the present.
She can’t help but wonder what kind of world her son will inherit.
How should she guide him to be successful?
It’s weird for another daughter, whose education and career
Seeks to assuage the mental challenges of some
Who don’t know how to act appropriately toward this life—
When it’s obvious
The world we live in, and many in it, are greatly broken.
As life becomes increasingly abnormal, maybe a dose of normal
Is just the the thing we need.
Maybe one momentary distraction will help us reset.
Ready? Think about these words
And the life from whom they came.
She had every reason to be dismayed:
“We could never learn to be brave and patient,
If there were only joy in the world.” — Helen Keller.
Stay safe, hang in there, and take one day at a time.
