I am blue.
Azure as my father’s eyes
The morn his soul took flight.
Fickle as faithless friends or flames
Who never loved right.
Melancholic, true, for
I am blue.
I am a King;
I rule
From dawn to twilight and beyond. Royal robes revealed hither and yon
Earthen ones before me cower.
My navy o’er the deep doth tower, for
I am blue.
Recon I’ll play a little ditty for you
With banjo, mandolin an’ fiddle too.
Songs of the gentle folk
Who dwell upon the hills of smoke.
I share my songs for your delight,
A lullaby for you to sleep tight
In ever-deep’ning shades of night, for
I am blue.
