I look forward to helping you.
Editing:
During my 14 years as a technical writer, I developed an appreciation for precise writing. I came to understand the importance of clearly written communication, particularly since most of the documents I wrote and edited pertained to government regulatory agency requirements related to aircraft safety and procedures which impact the lives of millions.
I would love to help edit your essays, papers, books, or other writing projects that are important to you. As you can see from my website, I have an affinity for Christian writing, but I am happy and well able to help with anything you may be working on. I would love to hear about your project to see how I can help.
Proofreading:
Some may say that proofreading is a type of editing, but the two skills are distinct. Editing is a more thorough process that involves conversations between the author and editor aimed at helping the author more professionally communicate their ideas. Proofreading involves looking over a document to check for grammatical errors and typos.
I will provide the level of help that best fits you and your project, which also respects the deadlines you hope to meet. Contact me to tell me about your project and deadlines, and we can decide what level of help you may need.
Writing:
Visit the, "Our Story," section of this website to see my writing samples. I subscribe to the four principles of good writing: brief, clear, simple, and human. Practically anyone can write huge chunks of content. Good writers trim unnecessary words (fat) and craft relevant, engaging content. The challenge is to get to the point and capture the readers’ attention. The goal of writing anything is to convey a specific message or story clearly so the intended audience “gets it." Simple writing avoids overly descriptive phrases, the use of unnecessary and/or large words when simple ones will do, or passive constructions that leave the audience confused. Finally, when we write, we are communicating with other humans. So, we should ask ourselves three questions: How would they understand? What do they need to hear? How can I best speak to the person on the other side of the page?
I enjoy writing short stories I call "pericopes" about my life and the people I have encountered.
I also enjoy helping others tell their story. We all have a life script to share. Do you have one you would like to share with the world, or maybe pass on as a legacy to your family? Contact me; I would love to hear it and help you find the best way to share it.
Fees:
My fees are based on the complexity of your project. Contact me so we can schedule a phone or video meeting (or whatever way you prefer) to discuss your project.
