The Plot Thickens

Think about this:

Every moment of our lives was authored long before we were born. "Somebody" fully envisioned our complex characters, and the 'plot' we know as "our life" was written in a Book. The psalmist reveals (Ps. 139) that we were made with/for a purpose and our life stories were written by our Creator in His book.

As I think about that statement, I imagine God's book on me as a meticulously detailed collection of short stories stored in an impenetrable vault. No one may enter that secret writing room and learn the outcomes--except the Author.

To add even greater wonder, our stories aren't the kind we humans write. The stories of us are alive. Though we pass away from this planet we will never cease to exist.

Once our odysseys begin, our characters constantly change. They become inescapably intertwined with other beings like us and become part of their story, and they become part of ours.

Along with the moments of elation and triumph, we must face and create our way through difficult conversations, the death of precious friends and family members, and remain flexible enough to interact appropriately with people of many different ages, backgrounds, faiths, and experiences—good and bad. We must learn to interact appropriately. We laugh, we cry, and we can think and create. We are amazing creatures.

In the most fascinating of plot twists, we, the characters can choose what we think about—how we act and react. We can plan and bring that plan to reality. What a fearfully and wonderfully wrought reality.

In some ways, we are quite vulnerable, yet we are never far from protection, assistance, and advice.

Know this from the Author:

Our character will achieve the purpose for which it was created; not because of our power, but the Spirit of the One who created us. We can call upon the Author to alter our story, and the stories of others we choose to include. Sometimes the Author will make the edits we request. Other times He remains silent. Either way, the anticipation is exhilarating!

I share highlights from my adventures with My Author; I call them My Pericopes (per-RIK-uh-pees).
